Adult Spine Unit

About the Spine Unit

A comprehensive, patient-focused, and evidence-based treatment approach for adult spine diseases accompanied by calcification such as lower back and neck pain, herniated disc, spondylolisthesis, cervical hernia, and spinal stenosis.

In Spine Health, a team approach that prioritizes the patient over treatment and adopts personalized treatment is embraced.

The most appropriate personalized treatment is determined through a collaborative and sharing decision-making process involving all relevant doctors, the patient, and their family. No treatment method is dictated, and decisions are made collaboratively.

Non-surgical treatment methods are selected first and whenever possible. Non-surgical treatments such as physical therapy and injections are performed in our unit. Thanks to our patient follow-up software, the treatment processes are objectively evaluated with quality of life surveys under the supervision of nurses. Patients who do not achieve the expected recovery are consulted with other team members without delay to ensure continuity of treatment and increase the chance of recovery.

In surgical treatment, minimally invasive closed methods are preferred first. One of the important determinants of surgical success is aligning expectations. In this context, sufficient time is allocated by our team members to understand patients' expectations and discuss possible surgical outcomes. Patient education provided meticulously by specialist doctors and nurses ensures alignment of expectations.

Using international collaborative studies and surgical simulation-planning and risk calculators developed using artificial intelligence, patient-specific surgical treatment selection and application are performed. Thus, the risk of complications is reduced and clinical recovery is achieved.

Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation programs are provided to prepare for surgery and accelerate recovery.

The success rate is increased by having surgeries performed by a team of spine surgeons from neurosurgery and orthopedics backgrounds, eliminating patients' confusion about surgeon selection.

Thanks to our post-operative patient follow-up system, we are constantly informed about our patients. We ensure quick accessibility in case of any problems. This follow-up system allows the examination of results from patients' perspectives using quality of life surveys.

The treatments and their results are collected in a database, evaluated at regular intervals, and discussed transparently. Our results are compared with other globally recognized spine centers and continuously improved.
