EUROSPINE is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing spine research and treatment. It focuses on promoting the exchange of knowledge related to spinal issues, supporting European countries' efforts in this field, and improving research, prevention, and treatment strategies. The organization brings together experts to enhance understanding and develop better care for spinal disorders, particularly back pain.

Prof. Alanay began his leadership journey with EUROSPINE in 2021 when he was elected as president-elect. He served as vice president in 2022-2023, followed by his term as president in 2023-2024. In 2024-2025, he continues his active involvement as past president. Throughout his presidency, EUROSPINE has remained at the forefront of innovation, research, education, and clinical excellence. In addition to his presidential roles, Prof. Alanay has contributed significantly to EUROSPINE's development through his work on various committees. He served on the Membership Committee (2003-2006) and as Chair of the Membership Committee in 2006. He was a key member of the Program Committee (2006-2011), serving as Chair from 2009-2011, and also participated in the Executive Committee (2009-2011). Further, Prof. Alanay contributed to the International Relations Committee (2012-2014), shaping the organization’s global outreach and initiatives.
