Spine Academy
In our unit, various patient information such as radiographic and clinical data and quality of life surveys have been meticulously and confidentially collected in our database since 2001. Over 15 articles are published annually in high-level international journals.
Our unit and our academic staff are recognized and leading worldwide for their scientific productivity and role in education. With more than 15 publications annually in prestigious international journals, we are at the forefront of academic productivity globally.
Our team travels to countries they are invited to every year for numerous international scientific meetings, training courses, and surgery demonstrations.
Many groundbreaking innovations in spine science and surgery have been introduced to the literature by our team members.
In addition to the global firsts mentioned above, our team has pioneered many aspects in Turkey.
Our team members are among the founding members of groups established to provide better treatment for spine diseases worldwide, such as the European Spine Study Group (ESSG) and AOspine Deformity Forum (AOSpineDKF).
Our faculty members have been elected and served in subcommittees and boards of important spine societies such as the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and the European Spine Society (Eurospine).
Our team makes significant presentations and receives various scientific awards by ranking in the top 100 out of over a thousand scientific studies at major conferences every year.
Contribution to Spine Education
Education in spine health is conducted under four main headings:
With academic education programs, we contribute to the training of many local and foreign spine specialists every year.
We have been selected as the training center of the AOSpine Foundation, which aims to standardize spine health services worldwide and is the largest international doctor member. Under this program, we undertake the training of doctors from various parts of the world.
Our unit has also been selected as one of the few training centers worldwide for the VBT technique.
Post-surgery status is explained to the patient and their relatives before surgery, and relevant educational documents are provided to them.
Various scientific studies have shown that patients who receive detailed education about their surgeries with extra time and visual materials have much better treatment outcomes compared to those who do not.
In addition to routine amphitheater lectures, a Spine Health Student Research Group has been established to increase student participation in scientific research.
In the research group, it is aimed to involve students in scientific research, strengthen student-faculty relationships, and enhance students' creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills.
The Spine Health Center provides short and long-term fellowship training for specialists working both domestically and internationally. These trainings are mainly theoretical and observational of practical applications.
In addition to these trainings, our center hosts general visiting faculty members from various regions of the world for a few days or weeks every year.
Community Awareness Activities
As a social responsibility project in spine health, awareness meetings are organized for our public to ensure the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of spine diseases.
Our team considers it important to raise public awareness about the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of spine diseases and sees it as a social responsibility. To this end, we provide awareness education on common spine diseases within the academy.
Various conferences and activities are organized every year in June to raise awareness and early diagnosis of scoliosis.
In spine diseases, understanding the patient's complaints well, educating the patient about the current diagnosis and possible treatment methods, and aligning patient and doctor expectations from the treatment are important factors affecting the success of the treatment.
For this purpose, our specially trained nurses and specialists provide information and disease information-expectation education to patients undergoing surgery or treatment programs.
Our specialists provide scoliosis diagnosis and treatment education to our teachers and students in various schools.
