The spinal cord is located in the spinal canal within the vertebra. The cord contains the nerve roots that come from the brain and conduct orders to our arms and legs—similar to the function of electrical cables.
Several conditions can damage the “electric flow” in these cables:
This damage can be permanent or temporary. Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring is used to trace and record these electrical activities. It acts like an early-warning system.
